Isms and Schools of thought.

What is an Ism? - A distinctive practice, system, or philosophy, typically a political ideology or an artistic movement. Types of isms: Political: feminism, Communism, fashism, liberalism, racism, capitalism, socialism, anti-consumerism. Artistic/creative: Realism, futurism, romanticism, symbolism, Cubism, impressionism, minimalism Modernism, Post-Modernism.  What to the lists of political and creative/artistic isms have in common? They have school of thoughts... Why do isms matter? They matter as they help us frame a set of ideas or concepts in a way tat makes them identifiable and manageable. The ideas in these groupies can still be complex but it allows you to think about them in a structured way that can also often be linked to particular periods of time so you can see the contact in which new ideas emerged whilst others declined. understanding other events in the period a particular ism was at its peak can also help you understand why and how that school go though...

Task 01: Dieter Rams 10 principles of good design

Headphones:  1. innovative -  i wouldn't say headphones are completely unique, although the design of my JBL headphones are fairly unique with button placements on the back right ear piece and the ability to fold in to allow for ease of transportation. 2. Useful -  The design of the headphones are particularly useful as they fit their purpose of connecting to a media device, outputting sound and sitting comfortably on someones head. 3. Aesthetic -  The headphones are fairly aesthetically pleasing as they have an all round white finish on them with a blue/white light to indicate connectivity and battery awareness. 4. Understandable -  The buttons on the device are easy to understand for volume + and - a button in between to pause and an on/off button. 5. unobtrusive -  Due to the design of the headphones and their complete white layer, they dont allow attention to be drawn to any buttons, you only see the headphones, although being fully white may indic...
